However, "Double Indemnity" made it clear he could pull it off. He is pitch-perfect as the weaselly naval officer in this film.Silver Screeningshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04955048716754142299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6722895377719228596.post-8143320405185414232018-09-03T15:18:40.423-05:002018-09-03T15:18:40.423-05:00This one has so many standout stars you could fit ...This one has so many standout stars you could fit it in several blogathons. If someone ever does a Jose Ferrer blogathon he has enough meat in the movie to do a blogathon entry. It also speaks to is versatility as an actor. Who else can play worms like Keefer and be a sit-com dad?

But like MacMurray is most intriguing in bad guy roles, I think Bogart is most interesting playing neurotic guys like Queeg or Dobbs from Treasure of the Sierra Madre.J-Dubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01761775598344163726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6722895377719228596.post-11509223563227810302018-09-01T16:56:10.780-05:002018-09-01T16:56:10.780-05:00I'm still waiting for something to top The Mal...I'm still waiting for something to top The Maltese Falcon as far as Bogart is concerned (And yes I've seen The African Queen). Key Largo and The Big Sleep were great. Have yet to watch The Petrified Forest but I am going to pair it with High Sierra real soon, which I also liked. I guess because I was forced to watch so many Disney movie as a kid. WEll, not exactly "forced" I just wasn't allowed anything stronger than G until I got out of high school and could watch what I damn well pleased.... Sad that the promising Robert Francis died so young...he was just as handsome but a better actor than Tab Hunter or Troy Donahue. I watch this one every time it’s on. Also enjoyed the TV miniseries adaptation of the Wouk novel The Winds of War in the 1980s...awesome to hear Mr. Wouk is still with us!
- Chrisangelman66https://www.blogger.com/profile/16471674180789592940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6722895377719228596.post-38700402747751615992018-08-30T07:00:15.010-05:002018-08-30T07:00:15.010-05:00A sprawling movie that doesn't always work, bu...A sprawling movie that doesn't always work, but is so engrossing that I have lost track of the number of times I have watched it. Among the best of its performances we definitely find Fred MacMurray's Lt. Keefer. Not a guy you want as a friend.Caftan Womanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05936895555808823221noreply@blogger.com
